My customer found an antique Hunter ceiling fan laying in a pile of demolition items at a house that was being remodeled. It's is one of the quality types that uses an oil bath to lubricate the bearings. These things last 100 years. The irony is that the homeowner was replacing these with Hampton Bay, Home Depot cheapies. I guess it's too much trouble to climb up there an refill the oil reservoir once a year or so.
I've blasted everything an powdercoated in semi gloss black. Then polish the mechanism (the blades have a pitch changing mechanism), lube all moving parts then reassemble.
